Why I really decided to write a Children’s Book

I quoted Ray Bradbury as my last line for my previous blog: “Why I decided to write a children’s book.” I think it was a decent explanation, generally speaking, but it was not really the reason I decided to write. I did not think of writing a children’s book myself, I was invited to write, proposed upon. The only thing I could think of was, “for the culture.”

Bradbury said, “You don’t have to burn books to destroy a culture. Just get people to stop reading them.” Books are timeless and they are also like a time capsule. They sort of display and tell a story of what life was like at that time in history. I decided to write Boops Character Missions for the culture of this time in History. Black people in America and other places have been bombarded with images that have intent on tearing down or “destroying a culture”. BCM is apart of a culture that has every intent on uplifting and showing positive representation of Black people in America and other places. To give these positive images in BCM to black children is crucial. Like I said in my previous post, I believe that reading at early child years is fundamental in shaping a world view. Unfortunately, the world view for Black people is very distorted and disturbing! BCM is goal set on changing this world view.

By co-authoring I now have a voice and can change the narrative. I wanted to speak “for the culture”.
